Leap Day specials at Bakersfield businesses
By The Bakersfield Californian
The Bakersfield Convention & Visitors Bureau and several area businesses will offer special deals on Wednesday, Feb. 29, to mark the Leap Year.
David Lyman, manager of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, said at last night's city council meeting that the bureau is calling the deals "One More Day to Explore Bakersfield" based on its slogan of "Bakersfield - More to Explore."
Amtrak passengers who arrive in Bakersfield on Leap Day, Feb. 29, on select San Joaquin trains can get a free companion fare coupon for their next trip on the San Joaquin, Capitol Corridor or Pacific Surfliner lines and connecting Thruway Bus service through May 18.
Also on that day, you can buy two Bakersfield Condors tickets for the price of one at the Rabobank Arena box office for any game for the rest of the season.
The McMurtrey Aquatic Center will have free lap swimming on Leap Day.
The Bakersfield Museum of Art will have two-for-one admission on that day, and the California Living Museum will offer a $1 discount on admissions that day.
Several museums and hotels will offer special rates on Leap Day.
The Hotel Rosedale will lower its rates for the night of Feb. 29 by $20 to $59.99. The Holiday Inn and Suites North will offer a $20 breakfast coupon to visitors staying the night of Feb. 29.
Four Points by Sheraton Bakersfield will take 15 percent off their best available rate on Feb. 29 and offer free breakfast for two people.
And Too Fat Sandwiches will have free cookies for those who buy sandwiches on Leap Day.
For many of the deals, you need to mention the Leap Day promotion or follow other rules. Go to the bureau's website for more details - www.visitbakersfield.com/specials.
