Work underway to remove flammable gas from Arvin homes

Ventilation equipment is being installed under the homes that have been affected by a gas leak in Arvin to remove the trapped vapor and make them safe for the homeowners to return.

A mandatory evacuation was issued for eight homes in Arvin Tuesday evening because high levels of flammable gas were detected inside them, Kern County firefighters said. Monitoring will continue until there is no flammable gas within the structures.

This may take several days, firefighters said Thursday. Daily Deal!
