A Bakersfield man was struck and killed while walking on Chester Avenue on Sunday night, Bakersfield police said in a news release. At 8:48 p.m. the Bakersfield Police Department responded to the accident in the 200 block of Chester Avenue. Investigation determined 20-year-old Estefanie Lopez was driving her Mazda MX6 southbound on Chester when her car struck an adult male pedestrian in the roadway, police said. The victim, later identified by the Kern County Coroner's office as 51-year-old Roberto Orozco, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lopez was not injured. Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the incident, police said. The investigation is continuing.
