A well-known figure in local talk radio has been arrested on charges of public drunkenness and refusing to cooperate with law enforcement officers, Bakersfield police said Monday.
Inga Barks, 45, a talk show host at KMJ AM 580 in Fresno, and a community columnist for The Californian, was arrested Wednesday night at The Marketplace shopping center in southwest Bakersfield.
Police responded at about 9:06 p.m. to reports of an unconscious woman, said BPD spokeswoman Michaela Beard.
After officers arrived, they noticed Barks was displaying signs of alcohol intoxication, she said.
"When officers asked for identification, she was uncooperative," Beard said.
Barks was arrested on charges of public intoxication and delaying or obstructing a peace officer.
"I really can't speak to it other than to say I had an adverse reaction to meds," Barks said in an email to The Californian. "I was not driving or running around. I'm grateful to the BPD for keeping me safe."
