Search leads to drugs, arrest

A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of drugs with an estimated street value of more than $90,000 on Thursday, according to a Kern County Sheriff's news release.
At about 6 a.m. the Kern County California Multi-jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team served a drug-related search warrant in the 9700 block of Giminiani Lane and found information that Irvin Chappel, 64, of Pumpkin Center was involved in the sale of methamphetamine from his residence, according to the news release.
During the search of Chappel's home, detectives found about two pounds of methamphetamine, more than $10,000 in cash and evidence of drug sales. A 9mm Ruger handgun and a sawed-off shotgun were also found, deputies reported.
The handgun was reported stolen and the shotgun had serial numbers filed off of it. The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of more than $90,000.
Chappel, a previously convicted felon, was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail of suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of ammunition by a felon and possession of stolen property, according to the news release.
