Bakersfield man dies in Brundage Lane crash

A 21-year-old Bakersfield man died Wednesday night when the car he was driving ran off the road and hit a telephone pole in the 2100 block of Brundage Lane, according to a Bakersfield Police Department news release.

The Kern County coroner's office identified him as Dylan Paul Handy. He died at the scene.

At about 11:46 p.m. Wednesday, police found a 1995 Saturn SL had run off the road with two other passengers in the vehicle. Passengers were identified as Fransisco Verni, 21, and Albert Hernandez, 20, the news release said. Both were taken to Kern Medical Center with moderate, non-life threatening injuries.

No other vehicles were involved. Police have not determined the cause of the crash and whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
