One arrested in sex offender compliance sweep
By The Bakersfield Californian
Kern County Sheriff's deputies from the Mojave and Boron substations recently conducted sex registrant compliance checks in the Mojave, Boron and North Edwards area, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
Deputies checked 14 residences and found 11 registrants in compliance with registration requirements.
They arrested Thomas Wheetman, 69, for failing to register as a sex offender. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department had told the Kern County Sheriff's Office Wheetman had possibly moved to the North Edwards area without registering his new address in Kern County. Wheetman was booked in the Mojave Jail.
Another two registrants were out of compliance, and their cases are being submitted to the District Attorney's office for filling of criminal charges.
