Man dies from stab wounds

A 37-year-old stabbing victim died Friday evening from his injuries, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Office.

The man's name has not been released by the coroner pending notification of next of kin.

The stabbing happened at 4:52 p.m. in the 1700 block of Flower Street, and the man died at 5:34 p.m. at Kern Medical Center, a coroner's news release said.

Deputies found the victim lying unresponsive in the street in front of an apartment complex, according to a sheriff's news release. There is no suspect description, and it's not known if the stabbing was gang related, deputies said.

An autopsy will be scheduled next week, the coroner's office reported.
