Woman drives into telephone pole, dies

An Inyokern woman died Wednesday after for unknown reasons her vehicle left the road and she hit a telephone pole, the Kern County coroner's office reported.
Kelly Monteton, 50, died at the scene of the 10:23 a.m. incident on Highway 178 at Jacks Ranch Road in rural Ridgecrest, a coroner's office news release said. She was traveling eastbound on the highway.
The California Highway Patrol office in Bishop is investigating the crash.
