Two hikers, one of whom had a dislocated hip, were rescued Thursday morning off Owens Peak in Inyokern by the Kern County Fire Department.
A little before 7 p.m. Wednesday, the fire department received a call to help the hikers, according to a fire department news release. Kern County Fire Helicopter 407 were dispatched for a possible hoist rescue, but high winds prevented the hoist operation.
The fire crew then hiked to the victims and waited until daylight to take them back. At about 10:15 a.m. Thursday, the crew took the victims back down. Both hikers were taken to a local hospital, according to the news release.
