A man died early Sunday morning when the car he was driving crashed into a guardrail on Highway 58, flew off the highway and landed on its roof in the northbound lanes of Mount Vernon Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The man, who's name and residence were not given, was headed east on 58 at a high rate of speed about 1:50 a.m. in a 1992 Acura. The Acrua veered off the road and hit a guardrale and bridge railing over the Mount Vernon undercrossing. It then flipped over and landed on Mount Vernon.
The man was wearing a seatbelt but died of injuries as a result of the crash. It was unkown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident, the CHP reported.
