Man found dead identified as California City planning commissioner

The man found dead in a California City home Sunday was identified as a member of the city's planning commission, according to the California City Police Department.
Charles Pieper, 75, was found dead by a neighbor in a home in the 8000 block of Holly Avenue, according to a police news release. Pieper has served on the California City Planning Commission for many years and is well-known in the community, according to the news release.
Police found evidence of foul play relating to Pieper's death, according to the news release. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Police are continuing to investigate the death.
