More than 730 pounds of illegal fireworks seized in undercover investigations


Kern County firefighters said Wednesday that arson investigators, with assistance from the Kern County Sheriff's Office and Kern County Probation Department, have seized 730 pounds of illegal fireworks and made two felony arrests in several undercover investigations.

The two were arrested on suspicion of possession of illegal fireworks.

Those caught with illegal fireworks will face a $1,500 fine, and those caught misusing or altering "Safe and Sane" fireworks, as well as using fireworks outside the designated times, will face a $500 fine. For more information on the sale and usage times for fireworks,visit
