Truck driver injured in fire that set hay stacks ablaze


An oil field truck driver was injured Monday from a brake fire on his truck that spread to nearby hay stacks in the area of Bear Mountain Boulevard and Coles Levy Road.

Kern County firefighters said the extent of the driver's injuries was unknown following the 3:20 p.m. incident. About 1,400 tons of hay were burning in two piles, and firefighters will remain on scene to monitor the situation.
