Truck driver's death a homicide

A truck driver found in a field northwest of Bakersfield Sunday morning died of multiple gunshot wound and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to a coroner's office news release.

Todd Chance, 45, left his Bakersfield home Sunday and was found a couple hours later in a field 16 miles away, Kern County Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt has said. Farmworkers found the body 9:30 a.m. off a dirt section of Noriega Road near Enos Lane just south of the Rio Bravo-Greeley Unified School District offices.

Anyone with information on Chance's death is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 861-3110 or Secret Witness at 322-4040.
