Fire department urging residents to change smoke detector batteries


The Kern County Fire Department is reminding residents to change the batteries in all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms around the home.

In addition to changing the batteries, be sure to test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms for proper operation. Using a vacuum hose to clean out the dust will help keep detectors in top working condition.
