By The Bakersfield Californian

A 1-year-old boy suffered major injuries Saturday when someone accidentally backed out of a driveway and hit him southwest of Arvin, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Daniel Espinoza, 21, was backing his 2003 Chevy pickup out of his house's driveway at about 1:20 p.m. when he felt an impact and stopped. He got out of the truck and saw the 1 year old, who he didn't know had walked into his path, lying on the ground injured.

The boy was taken to the intersection of Adobe Road and Bear Mountain Boulevard where they met Hall Ambulance paramedics.

The boy was taken to Kern Medical Center with major injuries. His name was not released. The incident happened in the 21000 block of Adobe Road, which is south of Bear Mountain Boulevard and east of Highway 99.
