Sheriff's bomb squad investigates suspicious package near high school

The Kern County Sheriff's Office bomb squad has responded to a report of a suspicious package or device at Quincy Street and Mount Vernon Avenue in east Bakersfield, according to a news release from the sheriff's department.
The release provided no further details, no information about the appearance of the device or whether the package was located near a residence, business, school, or some other site.
However, East Bakersfield High School is located at the northeast corner of that location. We will provide further details as they become available.
