Fire destroys residence, outbuildings in Taft

At 11:48 a.m. Tuesday, Kern County firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of Montview Avenue in Taft.
Heavy fire was coming from a detached garage to the rear of the property. The fire spread to the main residence and was also threatening structures on neighboring properties.
Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading further, but the main structure, detached garage and four outbuildings were destroyed.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
