Woman leads deputies on chase, crashes into fence

A woman crashed into a fence Friday night in East Bakersfield after allegedly stealing a vehicle with a male accomplice early Friday morning.
Kern County Sheriff's deputies answered a call at about 2 a.m. Friday morning in the area of Oswell Street and Brundage Lane regarding a stolen vehicle. The owner of the vehicle said a white man and Hispanic woman, later identified as Chelsey Becas, 22, approached her with a firearm and demanded her vehicle. At about 10 p.m. that night, the victim said she saw her vehicle being driven in the area of Niles Street and Fairfax Road. Deputies saw the vehicle being driven south on Fairfax Road. They pursued it, and it crashed into a fence near the intersection of Fairfax Road and Rosewood Avenue. Becas ran from the vehicle, and deputies caught and arrested her, but the male passenger in the car fled. Becas was taken to the Kern County Sheriff's Office Central Receiving Facility and booked for Possession of a stolen vehicle, Evading police and Hit and Run.
