At 12:45 p.m. Thursday, a 34-year-old Lemoore woman was traveling westbound on Highway 58 near Broome Road when she was hit by a pickup.
The driver of the pickup left the scene, and a witness provided information that led to a residence in Arvin. California Highway Patrol officers found the vehicle involved in the collision at the residence of 40-year-old Serafin Ortiz.
Ortiz was identified as the driver of the pickup, and he had a hitchhiker in his vehicle at the time of the crash who he dropped of at the intersection of Highways 223 and 58. Officers interviewed the hitchhiker and he too identified Ortiz as the driver.
Ortiz was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run. There were no injuries.
The CHP asks that anyone who sees a suspected drunken driver call 911.
