Arvin police got word of a shooting Wednesday afternoon when an injured man sought medical treatment for a gunshot wound.
Arvin Police Chief Tommy Tunson said police were called at about 4 p.m. by Clinica Sierra Vista's Arvin Community Health Center on Bear Mountain Boulevard. A man in his mid 20s had come to the health center with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was taken to Kern Medical Center and Tunson said the man's injury did not appear to be life-threatening.
The victim told police he was shot in the 100 block of South A Street, according to Tunson. At about 6:15 p.m. officers were detaining a suspect in the shooting, Tunson said.
"It looks like (what led to the shooting) was a fight and we're in the process of determining whether or not it's gang related," the chief said.
