By The Bakersfield Californian

An SUV driven by a Bakersfield woman struck and killed a 31-year-old Pismo Beach man on Saturday afternoon south of San Luis Obispo, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At 1:30 p.m., a 2007 Toyota 4-Runner driven by 66-year-old Linda Ford of Bakersfield struck a 2008 Triumph 1050 motorcycle ridden by the Pismo Beach man, the CHP announced late Saturday.

The man, who died as a result of the collision, has not yet been identified.

Ford, who was transported to French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment of minor injuries, was not arrested.

According to the CHP, Ford was driving north on Highway 227, south of Tolosa, and struck the unidentified man, who was traveling south, while she was making a left turn into a private driveway.

Ford was "determined to be not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision," the CHP said.

The accident remains under investigation.
