Drugs seized, two arrested on suspicion of federal drug crimes Thursday

Multiple agencies served search warrants in the Bakersfield area Thursday morning resulting in the seizure of methamphetamine and cocaine and the arrest of two people on suspicion of federal drug charges.

A total of 1.3 kilograms of meth, 50 grams of cocaine and $14,004 in cash was seized, Kern County sheriff's deputies said. Edi Bustamante Vega, 21, and Felipe Garcia, 26, were taken into federal custody.

Residences in the following locations were searched: the 600 block of Paloma Street; the 10 block of Garden Drive; the 25000 block of Old River Road; the 1500 block of Meredith Drive; and the 400 block of East Casa Loma.

Among the other agencies that took part in the operation were the Drug Enforcement Administration, Kern County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, FBI, U.S. Homeland Security, Bakersfield Police Department and Kern County Probation Department.
