Flood advisory issued for north central Kern

By BREAKING NEWS BLOG

The National Weather Service in Hanford issued a flood advisory for parts of the San Joaquin Valley, including north central Kern County, just after 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

The flood advisory also extended to central Fresno County and western Tulare County, including Visalia and Porterville, and set to expire at 8 p.m., according to the advisory posted on the National Weather Service's website.

The National Weather Service's doppler radar showed light to moderate rain over areas of those three counties at 4 p.m. and the California Highway Patrol reported street flooding in Fresno and Tulare counties, according to the website.

Runoff from the rains could cause more flooding, especially in places with poor drainage, the advisory said. The National Weather Service also warned that mud flows could occur in the foothills and high elevations of the southern Sierra Nevada.
