Pedestrian hit in Oildale dies at hospital

By The Bakersfield Californian

The pedestrian struck by a car on Roberts Lane in Oildale Friday night later died at Kern Medical Center, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

That person's name hadn't been released by Saturday morning; it was pending notification of family.

At about 7:47 p.m. Friday, 62-year-old Irma Blaauw was driving a 2001 Honda Accord westbound on Roberts Lane from Central Avenue when the victim entered Roberts from an unknown direction and walked into the westbound lanes of the street, the CHP said in a news release.

The victim suffered major head trauma, was taken to Kern Medical Center by ambulance and pronounced dead there.

Blaauw was not arrested.
