Motorcyclist killed in collision with big rig

A motorcyclist who struck the side of a big rig Thursday evening died from his injuries a few hours later.
James Pride, 33, struck the big rig on White Lane at Akers Road, according to a coroner's office news release. Pride was wearing a helmet.
Bakersfield police said Darl Spitzer, 56, was the driver of the big rig and had been making a northbound turn onto Akers Road when Pride, driving westbound on White Lane, collided with him at 8:44 p.m. Alcohol or drugs don't appear to be a factor.
