Teen attacked, stabbed by group in Oildale

A teen was attacked and stabbed after he was approached by a group of several young men and teens in Oildale on Saturday evening.
According to a Kern County Sheriff's Department press release, deputies were sent to the 400 block of Washington Avenue at about 7:50 p.m. after receiving a call about a victim of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, deputies found a 17-year-old male victim of a stabbing and assault, authorities said in the release.
The victim, whose name was not released, told deputies he was walking in the area of North Chester and Washington avenues when he was approached by approximately a dozen white males estimated to be between 16 and 20 years of age. The young men attempted to start an argument with the victim.
Eventually one of the suspects attacked the victim and a fight ensued, the release said. During the fight a second suspect from the group stabbed the 17-year-old in his upper left arm with a knife.
The victim fell to the ground and several from the group began to hit and kick the victim, according to the release. The suspects ran away different directions.
The wounded teen was taken to Kern Medical Center with what was described as non-life threatening injuries.
The armed suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 165 pounds with long brown hair. He was last seen wearing a red bandana, black baseball cap, a black sweater and shorts.
Authorities said they believe the suspect is still armed.
