Two arrested following chase, resisting arrest
By BREAKING NEWS BLOG
On Tuesday, Taft substation deputies responded to a peace disturbance in the 100 block of Harrison Street in Ford City outside of Taft.
They found that a person had pounded on a door to a home, yelled at people inside, and then left in a green Ford Expedition before deputies arrived. The next evening, deputies responded to the same home and found a green Ford Expedition leaving the area.
They tried to stop the vehicle, but driver Humberto Guzman, 25, led them on a short chase in which he ran a stop sign and at one point drove on the wrong side of the road. Guzman lost control of the vehicle and it came to rest against a canal bank.
Guzman and his passenger, Miguel Hernandez, 26, ran from the car in different directions. Guzman was taken into custody after resisting arrest. Hernandez swung at a deputy, but was taken into custody.
Guzman and Hernandez had gone to the home to fight one of its occupants.
Both were booked on suspicion of numerous offenses including resisting arrest and conspiracy.
