Two pedestrians suffered injuries after being hit by a passing vehicle in the 3000 block of Lotus Lane Monday afternoon, Bakersfield police reported.
The men were standing in the roadway when an approaching vehicle "careened out of control and struck them," according to a news release by the Bakersfield Police Department.
The men's names were not released. One was listed as receiving moderate injuries while the other suffered minor injuries; both were transported to a local hospital for treatment, the release states.
The vehicle that hit them continued for a quarter mile past the collision before becoming disabled and stopping, at which point the driver returned to the scene on foot, the release states. It says the driver was found not to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
"It has yet to be determined what, if any, criminal charges may be sought against the driver," the release states.
