Deputies make burglary arrests in mountain communities

Kern County sheriff's deputies assigned to the Kern Valley substation may have put a dent in the number of burglaries affecting residents of the mountain communities around Alta Sierra.
At about 10:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies conducted a parole search at 10817 Pine Drive, in Alta Sierra, the sherriff's department said in a news release Friday. The investigation was related to recent burglaries in the area.
During the search, deputies found what they believed was stolen property from at least two recently reported burglaries in the Alta Sierra area. Deputies also recovered additional property believed to be from unreported thefts in the surrounding area, the release said.
As a result of the investigation, Eric Mijarez, 32, of Bakersfield, was arrested on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property, destroying evidence, delaying a peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding parole warrant, authorities said.
Dori Martin, 53, of Bakersfield, also was arrested on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property, destroying evidence and delaying a peace officer, the news release said.
Mijarez is being held without bail at the Kern County Jail, according to online inmate records. Martin was being held on $42,500 bail.
During the investigation deputies identified a light-colored, unknown make minivan, as possibly being involved in the thefts.
