Driver killed in Highway 99 crash

A driver died Sunday night in a crash while exiting southbound Highway 99 onto White Lane.

California Highway Patrol Officer Ben Glapenske said witnesses reported that Carolyn Gholar, 45, was going a little too fast as she entered the offramp in a Toyota Camry at 6:30 p.m. and wasn't able to navigate the curve.

The car left the road, went into a ditch, overturned and came to rest on the southbound Highway 99 onramp on its wheels. Gholar, who was from Monrovia, had fatal injuries and her passenger, who was riding in the right-front seat, had minor to moderate injuries. He was taken to Kern Medical Center.
