A Bakersfield woman suffered major injuries Sunday afternoon when her vehicle was hit head-on by a suspected drunken driver on Highway 58 east of Jenkins Road.
At 3:20 p.m., Loretta Jones, 64, was driving east in a 2003 Mazda SUV when Dustin Robinson, who was going west in a 2009 Chevrolet pickup, drifted and hit the SUV, according to a California Highway Patrol news release.
Robinson, 39, suffered minor injuries but fled the scene of the crash on foot . He was found within a half a mile of the collision by the California Highway Patrol and arrested on suspicion of crimes including driving under the influence of alcohol, officers said.
Jones and Robinson were taken to Kern Medical Center.
