Wofford Heights fire causes $115,000 in building damage

Just after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Kern County firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 7400 block of Wofford Boulevard in Wofford Heights.

There was a fire in the basement of a combination residence and business office about 2,500-square-feet in size. The fire quickly spread into the attic and posed a threat to an RV and nearby buildings.

Several propane tanks located on the rear patio of the home became over-pressurized and vented, creating an additional hazard.

Firefighters contained the fire to the building. There was no one inside when the fire began.

Damages are estimated at $115,000. The cause is under investigation and there were no reported injuries.
