Victim reports rape in southwest Bakersfield

Bakersfield Police Department officers responded at 2:03 a.m. Saturday to a residence in the 5400 block of Cherry Tree Lane, on a report of a possible rape and robbery.

Upon arrival, officers contacted the teenage victim, who told them she was confronted in the 2400 block of Akers Road in southwest Bakersfield by a man in his 30s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing about 150 pounds and wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

The man brandished a knife, the victim told police, and demanded she give him her cell phone.

The man then pulled the victim into an alley where he sexually assaulted her.

The victim told police the man fled in a light brown, older model SUV, driven by an unknown person.
