Law enforcement and social service employees descended on a Tehachapi home Tuesday, and in addition to confiscating 100 marijuana plants and an assault rifle four juvenile children were taken into protective custody.

Kern County sheriff's deputies, a code compliance employee and social workers from the Department of Human Services were conducting a child welfare investigation at noon at a residence in the 18000 block of Alps Drive. They found about 100 marijuana plants on the property, along with the rifle and equipment for extracting THC from cannabis.

It was determined that the four children were at risk, and they were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services social workers.

Deputies arrested Andy St. Claire, 29, on suspicion of child endangerment, possession of an assault weapon and manufacturing a controlled substance by chemical extraction. His bail was set at $140,000.

Savanah St. Claire, 31, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment. Her bail was set at $80,000.
