A suspect brandished a knife at a Bakersfield College student Tuesday afternoon and demanded money, according to a BC news release.

After the attempted armed robbery, the suspect was seen moving away from the college's campus southbound on Mt. Vernon Avenue, the news release said. The student was approached in the southeast parking lot at the corner of Mt. Vernon Avenue and University Avenue.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, about 20 years old, with a dirty appearance, the news release said. The incident happened about 12:30 p.m.

Anyone who sees unusual activity in and around Bakersfield College and its parking lots is asked to call 395-4554 or, in an emergency, 911.
