Vehicle overturns, driver dies in Caliente

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

The coroner's office says a Bakersfield man died Sunday after the vehicle he was driving left the road and overturned.

Fifty-three-year-old Michael Baker died at 6:42 p.m. at the scene of the crash on Franceschi Road, 6.9 miles east of Caliente Creek Road in Caliente.

The Kern County Fire Department said the road was only accessible by off-road vehicles. Firefighters arrived and found Baker had gotten out of the vehicle and was unconscious on the road.

Kern County Sheriff's Search and Rescue helped the coroner to the site.

The CHP is investigating.
