A Bakersfield woman was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary Thursday morning after deputies found her inside a north east Bakersfield apartment along with stolen property.
Late Wednesday morning, a home in the 1200 block of El Tejon Avenue was burglarized, according to a Kern County Sheriff's Department news release. Clothes, household items and electronics were pilfered and the investigation led deputies to an apartment in the 300 block of Warren Avenue, where they verified the stolen goods were being kept.
Early Thursday morning, members of the sheriff's department's Metropolitan Patrol Section secured the address and got a search warrant to look for the stolen property, the news release said.
Deputies found Erica Stevens, 22, inside the apartment when they served the warrant at 5:20 a.m. They also recovered "numerous items" stolen in the burglary, the news release said.
Stevens was booked into the downtown jail on suspicion of first degree burglary just before 8:30 a.m., according to the sheriff's inmate website.
