Deputies investigating shooting near Pine Mountain Club

A 23-year-old man was shot Friday night in the 2100 block of Symonds Drive near Pine Mountain Club, the sheriff's department reported.

Deputies were dispatched at about 7:50 p.m. to a report that three shots were fired and a black compact vehicle described as a Kia fled, according to a Kern County Sheriff's Department news release.

The victim appeared to have been shot once in the abdomen and was taken by air to Kern Medical Center; his injuries didn't appear to be life-threatening, the news release said.
