Highway 99 off-ramp to Panama Lane will continue to be closed

Caltrans has announced the continued closure of the Highway 99 off-ramp to Panama Lane as part of the ongoing Highway 99 widening project in Kern County.

This $33 million dollar project will convert Highway 99 from a 6-lane highway to an 8-lane highway within the city of Bakersfield from Highway 119 to the Wilson Road Overcrossing. Construction is anticipated to be complete in the summer of 2014.

The Panama Lane closure will continue for three more weeks to allow crews to construct an auxiliary lane from Highway 99 to Panama Lane. The public is asked to drive with extra care while traveling through the construction area.
