Motorcycle crash kills driver, injures passenger

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

A 40-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his passenger suffered minor injuries in an accident about 2 p.m. Saturday in the Fort Tejon area.

The driver of a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle was headed south on State Road 33 north of Lockwood Valley Road when he failed to negotiate a left curve and drifted onto the right dirt shoulder, according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver--who has not been identified pending notification of loved ones--tried to brake, but continued about 40 feet south down a dirt and rock embankment, police said.

Both the driver and his passenger were ejected. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Jessica Bishop, 40, was airlifted to Ventura Medical Center.
