Boy injured in hit-and-run


The driver of a black SUV struck and injured a 5-year-old boy Thursday morning.

The boy suffered a broken leg and the driver left the scene, Bakersfield police Sgt. Joe Grubbs said. The incident happened at the intersection of East 9th Street and South Owens Street.

Grubbs said the suspect is described as black, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds, with a goatee and wearing a turquoise shirt and red shoes. The suspect vehicle is a black unknown model GM SUV.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at 327-7111.
