Burglary suspect leads police on short chase

At 9:57 a.m. Wednesday, Bakersfield police responded to CP Mining and Equipment Company on East Truxtun Avenue regarding a burglary alarm.

Officers talked with the business owner, who led them inside. They found a suspect inside the business yard driving a pickup truck towing a trailer containing stolen property.

Officers ordered the suspect, later identified as Michael Baggarly, 32, to stop and get out of the vehicle. Baggarly refused and crashed through a chain-link fence to get out of the business yard.

He led police on a short chase and collided with another motorist at East Truxtun Avenue and Tulare Street.

Baggarly was taken to a local hospital for examination before being booked on suspicion of burglary, theft, felony evading, vehicle theft and resisting arrest. The items stolen from the burglary were recovered.

The two occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash were treated for complaint of pain.
