Bakersfield suspect arrested in UC Davis torture

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

Bakersfield police arrested a 41-year-old Bakersfield man for the alleged sexual assault and torture of an unidentified UC Davis victim.

Michael Lenoir, the suspect, was taken into custody after local detectives interviewed the victim Friday and confirmed that a sexual assault, torture and kidnapping took place at a motel in Bakersfield -- according to a BPD press release.

Lenoir was later booked on two counts of rape by force, false imprisonment, battery with great bodily injury, kidnap for rape, mayhem, torture and assault with a deadly weapon.

UC Davis police notified Bakersfield authorities Thursday that the assault took place at an "unknown motel in the Bakersfield area."

Authorities have not released any other details in what is an ongoing investigation.

Detectives are searching for additional witnesses.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the BPD at 327-7111 or detective James Moore at 326-3540.
