Two suspects arrested in Oildale school vandalism
By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN
The Kern County Sheriff's Department busted two juveniles and is searching for a third after deputies responded to an activated burglar alarm at Beardsley Jr. High School in Oildale at 9:10 p.m. Friday.
A search of the school revealed numerous doors and walls were vandalized using a permanent marker, deputies said. The damage is estimated at $1000.
When authorities arrived at the school, a Kern County Sheriff's K-9 handler found a minor attempting to pry a classroom door lock, according to deputies. The deputy told the boy he was under arrest and the boy ran. After the suspect ignored orders to stop, he was subdued by a K-9, who bit him in the left arm.
The boy was taken to Kern Medical Center for a routine medical clearance.
A second suspect who also ran from deputies was located on the campus and arrested. A third suspect is still outstanding.
The two suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary, resisting arrest and vandalism. Both are juveniles and were taken to Juvenile Hall.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Kern County Sheriff's Office at (661) 861-3110 or contact Secret Witness at (661) 322-4040.
