Ridgecrest police are investigating a shooting that sent one man to the hospital Friday night and lead to a standoff that ended Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to the 300 block of Robalo Street at about 10:18 p.m. Friday for gunshots fired and an injured person, Ridgecrest Police Sgt. Mike Myers said. Officers found the shooting victim, 38-year-old Ridgecrest resident DeShawn Green, inside his residence on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds.
Green was flown to Kern Medical Center in critical but stable condition and Myers said his condition remained the same on Sunday afternoon.
The investigation and physical evidence lead officers to an apartment in the 500 block of East Ridgecrest Boulevard but officers received no response when they tried to contact the person inside. Kern County Sheriff's Department SWAT was called out from Bakersfield. The person inside the home, Stacey Campbell, came out peacefully at approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Myers said.
Campbell, 23, and Jason Bostick, 32, both of Ridgecrest, were arrested on suspicion of drug and weapons charges, Myers said. Bostick also lived at the apartment but was not inside while Campbell was refusing to come out, according to police.
Campbell and Bostick were booked into the downtown Bakersfield jail, according to the Kern County Sheriff's Department's inmate website. However, Campbell was no longer listed on the inmate website on Sunday evening.
No suspect has been identified in the shooting and that investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the police department at (760) 499-5112 and ask for Detective Nathan Lloyd.
