Ceremony to be held dedicating highway after deputy killed in line of duty

A ceremony will be held 11 a.m. Friday to announce Senate Concurrent Resolution 50, which designates the interchange of State Highway Route 119 the Deputy Daniel Lee Archuleta Memorial Interchange.
Kern County sheriff's Deputy Daniel Archuleta was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 12, 2004 when his patrol vehicle rolled over on Tupman Road just north of Tupman as he was traveling south responding to an emergency call.
The ceremony will be held at 9601 South H St. in Bakersfield, which is at the northwest corner of Taft Highway and South H Street. The ceremony will be attended by State Sen. Jean Fuller, R-Bakersfield, the author of Senate Concurrent Resolution 50, as well as Sheriff Donny Youngblood, Undersheriff RoseMary Wahl, Chief of Staff Jeff Flores from county Supervisor Mike Maggard's Office, and Archuleta's parents, Don and Linda Archuleta.
The public and media are welcome to attend.
