Parolee takes plea deal in sexual assault case
By BREAKING NEWS BLOG
A parolee accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl pleaded no contest Tuesday to a charge of raping a child under 14 years old.
In return, five other felony charges were dismissed against Angel Frank Rodgriguez. He's scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 15.
The victim told police that Rodriguez followed her and coaxed her into a vacant residence on Oregon Street in June of last year, according to Bakersfield police. Rodriguez smoked methamphetamine, tried to get the girl to smoke meth with him and blew smoke in her face in an effort to get her high, the girl told police.
Rodriguez then sexually assaulted the girl, after which there was a struggle and she got away, police said.
