Investigators found a man suspected of fatally stabbing a relative Tuesday at a Motel 6 several hours after the stabbing.
Carlos Nuno, 20, is believed to have stabbed a man during an argument Tuesday afternoon, said department spokesman Ray Pruitt.
Kern County Sheriff's Department Lt. Steve Hansen said Nuno was in custody Tuesday night after he was found at about 5 p.m. at the motel on White Lane.
Deputies responded to reports of a stabbing on the 800 block of Caylor Court in south central Bakersfield at about 2:25 p.m., Pruitt said.
Daniel Nuno, 24, was stabbed in the leg after what started as a verbal altercation turned physical, according to Sheriff's Department new releases. He was taken to Kern Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 2:56 p.m., a Kern County Sheriff's Department Coroner Section news release said. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
Both men lived at the house, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
"There were several witnesses, including family members that (said they) witnessed Carlos Nuno stab the victim," Pruitt said.
Carlos Nuno fled on foot into the neighborhood, Pruitt said.
The knife investigators believe was used in the stabbing was recovered, Pruitt said.
